not point, all your points ignore the only point that actually matters to ANYONE. and that is: Does the person WANT a PS3? If the answer is yes, then it dosent matter how much the PS3 is, they're going to pay for it.
example: I use my PS2 as a Ps1, a Ps2, a DVD player, a CD player. I can invest 300USD in a PS1, DVD player and CD player alone.
In a PS3 I get:
A Ps3 console
a PS2 console
a PS1 console
a DVD player(non-blu ray)
a blu-ray DVD player
and a CD player.
say, 200 for just the ps3 aspect
100 for the PS2 aspect
free PS1
100 for DVD player(you gotta spent 100 if you want a good one)
100 for CD player
200 for blu-ray DVD player.
the goodness or badness of games is determined by THE GAME, not the console, there are some craptacular games on ALL the consoles, and there are some kick-ass games on the PS1 and Nes/SNes. If a console can't play the games made for it, we have a problem. Otherwise, blame the game developers, not Sony.
yeah, if all I'm interested in is the ability to play PS3 games, it's a total rip, but unlike the Wii, the PS3 is not JUST a gameing console. So stop comparing it to one. I dont see the gamecube capable of playing any Nintendo game, yet, whats this? The PS3 can play any playstation game? Well, I would never have expect that in a console.
And Lynk, get off your high-horse, the PS3 controller is rechargeable. If the battery dies and your under warrenty, get it replaced. Just about every electronics store will sell you an insurance plan on every peice of electronics you buy, it's like 10% of the price of the item. So an insurance plan on a PS3? 60 bucks, on a controller? about 3 and a half. I think I can live with that.
Of course, you, who think the Wii is too expensive, obviously cant stand to live with any cost over what you think you should pay for it. Well guess what Lynk, the global market dosent revolve around your whims. it revolves aorund mine. :-P
EDIT: for the record, I DONT have a CD or DVD player in my room outside of my PS2, so for the PS3 to include these things, it's a necessity for me.
