Pay attention people. I don't like the price of the PS3, I don't like the price of the Xbox360... and I don't like the price of Wii.
The list I wrote up was what I would get as a starter set for each console if I had 1000AUD as a limit. The things I listed for the Xbox360 and Wii are things I think that those systems need to get a good gaming experience from the very beginning.
With the Xbox360, I would get it for Gears of War, and the accessories I listed would be very much needed to get a good experience out of the game.
Wireless Module? Don't need it, ethernet works very well. HD-DVD drive? Don't need it, what does that have to do with videogames? Recharge pack? Important, agreed with the addition. Linux? Now honestly, do normal people actually CARE?
Features, features, features... most of which matter jack all to the games themselves. All I'm concerned about are the games, so anything that makes games better is a good thing... what the PS3 has doesn't necessarily do that, it's just more features.
Even without those extra features the PS3 has, I see the Xbox360 and PS3 as being equals in what they're trying to achieve. Just that the PS3 is more expensive.
On a final note, there's no way to replace the battery inside the PS3 controller, so if it dies, you have to throw away the PS3 controller instead of just buying a replacable battery pack.
