I bought Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance a week ago, it's my first Fire Emblem game. There are actually 9 in total and it all started back in 1990 on the Famicom, but only 3 of those have been released outside of Japan.
Damn is it good, it's a strategy RPG with great gameplay and an excellent story. It's a very mature game... no not the kind of "mature" that a 13 year old thinks of when they play GTA or something similar. I mean mature in the way that it deals with many different issues including racism and just a touch of politics.
I've had so much fun playing it and finishing it, now I'm working on completing it on hard mode. And now I can't wait for the Wii version of Fire Emblem which has Sothe in it! I so can't wait!

Yeah, the Fire Emblem series is great!
I stopped playing Path of Radiance after I got to the last level. I was having a bit of trouble with it. And for some reason, I never went back and finished it. Now that I'm thinking about it, I should go do that.
If you're thinking about it, the other two for GBA are just as good in my opinion, they just don't have as good graphics.
Tips for last level
I find the best characters to use, provided they're alive and are at a high level, hopefully fully promoted at lv20 are...
Oscar
Boyd
Kieran
Soren
Rhys
Reyson
Nasir
Nephenee
Tanith
Rolf (or Shinon)
...and whoever else you want in there. Also when it comes time, choose Tibarn to join.
First thing to remember is not to split your group up. This is the last level and you don't need to try to grab anymore experience or try to clear the field... but it doesn't matter anywayz cause all of the enemy troops come to you anywayz so you'll end up clearing the entire map anywayz lol.
Stay with the middle path and make sure to move your stronger characters to block off the left, right and top entrances so that dragons can't come in and wipe out your squad. Reyson and Rhys will come handy in this mission for extra moves and healing. Once you don't have anymore enemy troops trying to bust you up from the left and right, proceed up and split your force in two and head left and right up the stairs. By the time you reach the stairs all of the enemy troops will be wiped out. Position Rhys and Reyson near Ike as he fights Ashnard in the final battle so they can heal Ike. Reyson is there so you can use chant and get two turns out of Ike and Rhys.
I really do hope you have the characters listed cause they are the best you can get.

Well, I did beat it. It was a sweet ending. I didn't use your strategy at all, to be honest, but thanks for offering it! I had a file already part of the way through the level that I must have forgotten, and so I just finished it.
The Fire Emblem for Wii looks awesome! It's too bad Sothe doesn't become an assassin in PoR, it upset me considering how much effort I put into him.
A hero being an theif/assassin would be pretty cool for Fire Emblem Wii. I noticed that Sothe had throwing knives on his character art over at IGN.
So anywayz, who did you choose to be your main force? And who were you favourites?
You've read it! You can't unread it!
Uhh... lets see here... Rhys was dead, Kieran was dead, so I didn't use either of them. Lets see if I can remember my list properly.
I had:
Ike lvl 20
Elincia Lvl 20 at the end.
Mist Upgraded lvl 16 (Healer since Rhys was dead!)
Boyd lvl 20
Oscar lvl 20
Soren Lvl 20
Nasir Lvl 20
Nephenee Lvl 20
Tibarn Lvl 20
Stefan Lvl 20
Mia Lvl 20
Calill (mage girl) Lvl 13?
Tanith Lvl 20
The Pink haired Pegasus knight (can't remember her name) Lvl 7-8
Reyson Lvl 8
All of them were promoted if possible.
I think that's it.
The ones I ended up using most were Ike, Boyd, Soren, Nephenee, and Oscar. Favorites would be Nephenee, Ike, or Soren.
bolded = used the most
Ike - Lord - lv20
Boyd - Warrior - lv20
Kieran - Paladin (Axe + Lance) - lv20
Nasir - Dragon Tribe - lv20
Nephenee - Halberdier - lv20
Lethe - Beast Tribe - lv12
Mordecai - Beast Tribe - lv6
Oscar - Paladin (Lance + Bow) - lv20
Reyson - Bird Tribe - lv5
Rhys - Bishop - lv9
Shinon - Sniper - lv20
Soren - Sage - lv20
Tanith - Falcon Knight - lv20
Tibarn - Hawk - lv20
Titania - Paladin (Axe + Lance) - lv20
Volke - Assassin - lv20
Zihark - Swordmaster - lv8
As for my favourites... of course, Ike. Soren absolute rocks and so does Nephenee. And the Oscar/Kieran team is unbeatable

Wow thats a huge group of characters and jobs for a tactics game any good replay goals for you =P
Edit: Sounds like a very good game if it has a great mature story and i also happen to like strategy/tactics games =D
There are about 40 characters you can choose from but you only should only work on about 12 - 14 of them if you want to get a good amount of them promoted and at lv20. And Fire Emblem is just a tactics game, it's THE tactics game
As for replay value, there are several unlockable trial maps and hard mode which I'm playing through now.

Far too lazy to list the characters I used, but in the end, I used every character possible, except Sothe. I believe I had 5 or 6 playthrough and tried using different characters during each playthrough.
The game was a lot fun, but one disappointment was the challenge factor. Even on hard, the game was not all that difficult. It also doesn't help they removed Ashnard's final form. He does have another form after the final form in the game we played, but to my knowledge, it was removed. If the game was more challenging, I would have been much happier.
Also, the extra feature stunk. A couple of extra map, where you could use extra characters after beating the game X amount of times. Who would beat the game 15 times for Ashnard and to use him only in the extra maps? xD
On the final battle, Ashnard comes after you after a certain amount of turns or if you're in range. He'll also attack the weaker characters oppose to attacking Ike, unless Ike the only character in range. Another note, you can trap the Ashnard in the very top corner, where the door is into the class and won't be able to move as long as one of your characters blocks him in.
The pink hair character would be Marcia.
Mist is excellent, once upgrade. Tip, don't use any of the weapon scrolls until Mist upgrade, then upgrade her sword to level B and watch he have a lethal attack with the Sonic Sword. Since she's a mount unit, she can retreat when she's needs to retreat after healing.
I hope you people know Volke is awesome once he's upgrade. Give him an Occult and watch him kill in one attack, though he does that often. He's Ike, but without the heavy defense, which might degrade Volke's value to a degree. Sothe a waste of time.
I take it all of you missed Stefan?
XD It's funny cause everything you said I already knew, and nope, I got Stefan.
Also with Ashnard, I had Rhys near enough to him to use Psychic to heal him with Reyson right next to Rhys. No one was near Ashnard but Ike who was right next to him. It only took a few short turns cause Ike thankfully used Aether quite a lot XD

Overall, the final battle was lackluster since it was Ike attacking and a healer healing him from a distance. Aether just speeded up the process, so did the laguz champion you summon.
Yeah, it was a lackluster final battle, but I wasn't expecting anything huge and spectacular like fighting Metroid Prime. Once you've played through four hundred or so fights they're not gonna really change that much lol. They could've made the level itself a lot more challenging. The reinforcements that the enemy sent were completely useless. I would've expected a tonne of reinforcements to come in by the time you reached Ashnard.

I got Stefan! He was awsome!
Yeah, the last level was kinda lame. It was the final stronghold so you'd think there'd be lots more troops waiting there! And they removed his final form? What was it?
It's too bad I never used Volke, he would have been sweet, but I wasn't expecting the promotion at the certain point in time, or I would have used him early to level him up. Once he was promoted, he was very bad, since I hadn't leveled him up before hand, so I just stopped using him.
I used Volke simply cause I knew that there were gonna be a lot of chests to open in this game and I didn't want to waste anyone backing him up while he went off to open them. I'm so glad I got him to lv20 before he did get promoted to Assassin though lol.

Most people fail to notice Stefan's awful luck, which might led an enemy to landing a critical hit on Stefan. Stefan is good, because the rest of his stat do match up with the rest of the train Swordmaster you might have.
Volke make an excellent attacker if you train him. Of course, having the ability to open chest and unlock doors is always very helpful aspect. Too bad Sothe was utter garbage compare to Stefan.
Well Sothe looks like he's got a game of his own, I can't wait to see what they plan to do with him in Fire Emblem Wii.
As for Swordmasters, I stuck with Zihark and just gave him Killer Swords, they worked very well for him lol

I haven't played fire Emblem PoR in a couple months, I got stuck on a scenario and just kind of wandered away, My most used people are Lethe with the Laguz band because I like the cats more than Tigers, Volke level 10 Assasin, I think, and Ike lvl 20.
