Fine I'l let anyone who played Paintball in as well.....

I learned about this a few months ago and I suddeny realised what all thoses weapons were in You're under arrest that both Natsumi & Miyuki own.

Since then I learn much about it an yesterday I went for my first skirmish....

It was a hot and damp night this 4th of July, as I went into battle armed with an AK47. 6mm BB?s were ping of the brickwork, metal, plastic you name it. It was a bitch, but hell it was full. If you can do one thing before you die, it to play Airsoft is what you must do.
I really enjoyed my night out on the indoor skirmish field; overall some son of a bitch was using an 8mm weapon which caused me a few cuts when he attacks us up close and personal. I would have preferred something a little more NATO, but the AK47 was a great choice in weapon. However my team was overall run countless times by the enemy, hell six army regulars were on my team, but I think the other team had the advantage of knowing the field better.

I know when before I lat-moved to the airwing we practiced with a variant of the airsoft rifles. They fired paintball rounds about half the size of a normal paintball, and most of the time (the few times I got hit) it hurt worse then a frozen paintball. Fun stuff.

We were using variants of the m16a2, and the CQB heavy m4. Alot of people liked the m4 better because it was lighter and easier to carry (the collapsing buttstock was cool too), but I still prefered the m16, mostly due to the fact that the weight is a plus, especially when your going for distance and precision targetting. A nice milspec reflex red dot sight helped a whole lot. Keep in mind that this was an exact replica of the weapon I was to take with me later.

Here's how my day on the MOUT course went: Two small fireteams: "Rapier 1-1" and "Rapier 1-2" comprised of four people each made their way down the city block, both groups in long spread out columns. It was hot, real hot, so hydrating meant the difference between staying in the game or dying. I was the third person back in 1-2, so we were on the right side of the street. 1-1 made their way to the crest of the first intersection and I heard a thwack. The pointman made a halt motion and we took a knee. Less then a minute later that single thwack turned into a hail of fire. We were ordered into a house on the corner that luckily had two floors. Clearing the first, we headed up the stairs to the second and set up a good spot for cover fire. That is, until our point man was taken out by sniper fire. The prick radios weren't working so contact with 1-1 was all but impossible. Pusing the set of bunk beds in the room against the wall farthest away from the window I layed on the top one, the muzzle of my 16 laying on the day pack I had found.

Your taught as an expert marksman to follow a muzzle flash to the source, but with these rifles there was no flash. using a sharp eye I scanned the horizon to adjust my eyes, then focused on a point and defocused. Slowly but surely my vision picked up some subtle movements in a building a few blocks away. Quite an achievement for these rifles. I sighted in, dialed in the dope (elevation, windspeed, checking my breathing etc) and squeezed off a round. No luck. One more time. No more fire. I got him. We packed up and moved out with the three of us fifteen minutes later and happened to run smack dab into Rapier 1-1. We kept moving, running with all our gear and dragging the casualty who was still returing fire, despite the fact that he was having a less then fun time. We rounded the next corner and I took one to the leg (it made it bleed!) and it knocked me off my feet. I got up and started limping to the 7 ton sitting on the corner, my teammates running next to me. We got the hell out of dodge and complete the exercise with kudos from the detacment CO. Turns out we did way better then they thought we could have ever, something I'm still proud of.

Airsoft is fun stuff, great training, and material for bragging rights.

That true, the bagging right will be great once I recover…. Damn 8mm BB hurt a lot more then the standard 6mm I was using. I got caught in cross fire two meters away from someone using a STAR UMP; I got three welts on my arms because I defend myself covering my face. The only thing I can say is that you make sure your wearing good clothing. It was hot but a BDU top would have been better then the Vietnam era uniform I was wearing. The sleeves were just too short,

Do you uses hi-cap mag or did you uses the more realistic lo-caps? Hell I was using a high cap magazine and I barely used much it my games…. I had to keep priming the magazine by winding the magazine.

The next time I go shopping I’m going to be on the look out for a copy of the United States Airforce new Airman Battle Uniform if I can find it.

I had an easy time sometimes tracking the ammo like tracers, only problem was the fact every time I went round a corner and I bumped into someone I shot them, even if they were on my team….

I would really like play it, but the gear is going to cost me a fortune (there's only one place in the whole country for Airsoft games) and I bet i'm going to be beaten badly

@hawkeye, We use realistic everything. Everything to simulate a combat experience. I take the extra time to weigh my rifle and add or strip weight depending on how close it is to the real thing. I don't want to be caught off guard with a piece of crap weapon that I'm only allowed to fire twice a year.

@hawkeye again, Before you round a corner, take a quick second long peak. Always check corners before your go. Also, if your playing with a team, invent a phrase you guys can say to eachother so you can verify whose who. If your travelling down a long stretch of road, or whatever, never turn your back to direction your going. If the field is big enough, never create a silloette, stay out of the horizons direct line of sight.

Well the phrases was something I came up with being the green team captain, I did learn a thing or two in my year in theAir Training Corps, but no one else on my team seem to take the idea in uses. It didn't help when the red team had a few members with Radios. However I think the problem was most of my team, were seasoned players, were new to this Skirmish field.

Peeking around the corner? I got shot more time doing that..... Next time I'm taking a little mirror ans some chewing gum. All I can say is that Clothing is very important. Slowly my wounds are healing, I know got five scabs that are healing...

The soon to be retired mk3a2, and the m82 concussion offensive hand grenades. Don't let one go off to close, it'll knock you off your feet. I ruptured an ear drum when we cleared a room and the squad leader forgot to tell me that more then one grenade was thrown in.

Arrr.... Cool... Wish thoses Army boys could bring something like that with them, It might have given us a bit of an advantage. But all we cilivian are allowed are smoke Grenades and ones to simulate frags... but being able to use real one like your self would be so cool...

Oh boy, yer artillery piece can really knock you off your feet if your unprepared for it. I was at a WW2 exprieance day and happan to go watch the Ordnance QF 25 pounder field piece when it fired I felt it first as I stagged back in surprise, then heard it....

Let's see a little update, I changed Skirmish sites and are now playing out of a world war two bunker buried under Epsom race track. It's a great skirmish site, it a series of tunnels that intoconnect to form a grid. Ranging lighting conditions in certain tunnels. The old Toliet blocks are the darkest and scary place. And the Regulars like to uses thunderflash pyrotechinics. Keep your mouths open, my friend now hard of hearing..... Hell the only thunder we took that night was when the Cheif dragged all the newbies including my friend and I into the Toilet block and lit one up dopping it on the floor behind himself. Both my friend and me knew what one was like as he did the same thing to us when we came down to the site a few nights before to help out. That got us a free Game.

I got most of my kit apart from an AEG as that will cost me the most, I might wait until after christmas to look round on the secoand hand market for something like a G36 or M4. As you all know I got my M9 Berreta, My friend brought himself a Glock.. WTF? the gun hard to understand, especally when the instuctions are in Japanese or what ever they are in....
Overall I'm going for a US marine layout, going for an stargate SG3 feel... So I might ask Kiai for a few pointers on marine kit.....

I didnt know airsoft was japanese ive just heard the name before sounds pretty fun though.
I havnt played airsoft or paintball, ive only played laser shooting things like twice =P

You should go play, paintball only hurts a little the first time you get hit. It's great fun and you'll totally want to come back for more. Plus, if you like, get with you buddies and set up a close combat game. You know, you get someone out, but their not out until you smack the living shit out of them with your melee weapon!

Tell me about it my friend John nicknamed Liability lived up to his name, on his first night he was all gung Ho before going to the site, like a kid on Christmas eve. Then once in the Tunnels and when the Game horn sounded he was instenlly different.
I had almost had to drag him by the back of his webbing when we got into a fire fight. He was scared of 6mm BB their nothing compared to 8mm which I felt in my first game.

I think Airsoft hurts more makes sence.
Paintballs explode when they hit you so they release some of there energy from the explosion but BBs dont so the force is more directed into what it hits

pff I would say Painball mainly, but it can variy in airsoft on the type of ammo and gun used... sniper rifle have a higher F.P.S. power then outher guns, but I haven't had one shoot at me yet as I then to play CQB skirmish shites. Bare skin and a 8mm will leave you with a welt, or broken skin. 6mm normaly leave a red mark, nothing else, might be shore like a bite mark from an insect but that it really. just make sure you have good protection. You won't believe me but the last game, I surived to the last game and got killed by a lucky head shot and the BB's got me between the Mask and Helmet I was wearing. So really they can find theirway anywhere.... you just learn to deal with them. Best way to call the Shooter a ******* ***** ******* ******** ******!!!!!

Have you ever got lag during a battle.
Im sorta like "woah" by this the amount of weapons and stuff like real weapons but non lethal and they are based on real weapons. Sniper would be fun =P

It viars in battle, depending on the mission and games we play... if your the hunter or the hunted.... First game on the night I usually have heavy beathing when I start out until I'm into game mode. You got to be careful as any little mstake could get you killed, like in real life....

Intresting game last night, it was my first Low-Cap game so I was forced to my Breatta side arm only. It would have been a bit better if damn Liability had brought the full kit and not just the damn gun and magazines......

Mind you the worst person causing trouble was VC Charlie..... He Okay most of the Time but every Time a Grenade goes off he Starts to Bark and he rushs our of the safe zone.

Okay Kiai as I did ask you a few days ago, I wanted to ask you a few question to double check my kit is correctly matching the same standard as a USMC would have... I'll have to take a Picture tommrow when I can and ask you to review it. Otherwise I have a few questions.

Question One

Name tags and Service tags, Are they sew on to the uniform above the chest pockets or are they shown on via Vecro like I seen in other Serivices.

Question two

this is for my friend, does any Marines actually uses the Boonie Hat or is the Garrison hat favour more? Asking this as he brought a complete set and got the Boonie with it. To me every time i see him I Roll over laughing... the hat looks terrible

Question three

Boots, can you give me any information on the type of combat boots your issued with as I have been using my hiking boot and their going to be worn out soon.

Helmets.... which designare the Marine corps using?

Last one... I been going on Ebay and I've noticed a parctiular set of Protective Sunglasses that say that have been issued to Marines, is this true.... I'll be back with a link to the items

Answer 1: Above the left pocket is U.S. Marines, and above the right is your last name. On the left pocket is an iron on Eagle Glove and Anchor. On the lappelles go your pin on rank.

Answer 2: Your authorized to use the boonie cover as long as your command allows you to. I've only needed to use it in the deserts of both Iraq and Australia, it keeps your head from burning in the sun.

Answer 3: We use a standard tan combat boot that is about 81/2 inches tall do a search for combat boot and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Answer 4: To my knowledge the entire american millitary uses all of the same design in ballistic helmets. From swat, to the Airforce, to the Marine Corps, we all use the same headgear.

Answer 5: Wiley-X and Eye Safety Systems Inc. are two of the major ballistic eye protection companies. They were not issued out until about two years ago. I had them in Iraq, and can confirm their durability. I was kneeling on the threshold of a corner, stairing across the street at my squad leader. I looked up again and from my left (my squad leader's right) there was a bright flash. About four inches above my head there was a loud crack, followed by a spray of debris. Some of the wire mesh the gated corner was made out of was stuck to my kevlar and goggles. Saved my eyes. Thank god for a good pair of goggles.
