This thread is about things you love and hate about the console hardware that's out there, old and new... I'm bored lol.

Most people hate it and see it as kiddy/stupid/useless for some reason but the handle on the GameCube is so damn useful! It's such a good idea cause you can just carry that console around wires, controllers and all with one hand. It's small, it's light and it's got a handle. Brilliant!

Another thing I love is on the GameCube controller which most people don't even notice... actually it's two things. The way the buttons feel... they're so soft and smooth, and when you press them, it feels so damn good! And the second thing is a very cool feature that Nintendo came up with, the digital click feature on their analog shoulder buttons. That simple addition made things so much more interesting for games. You had all those degrees of analog control, then you get to the end and you press down more and click, you find that it adds a little extra functionality... I so hope the digital click comes back for the Z1 and Z2 buttons for Revolution.

I hate how the xbox locks up at the most inconvienient point possible. I'll be playing madden, I just beat the other team and am kneeling the ball the end the game, and it freezes, and I have to play the whole game over again. At that point I'm so pissed I just simulate that game.

I like most portable gaming systems. Just because its so much fun to carry around a game in my pocket. Usually, I have one on me always, just so incase I get bored or something like that, I have something to do.

I love how tiny the Game Boy Micro is, even if the screen is smaller than the original GBA and the SP, it's so so worth it just for being that compact. It's a great keychain

I like the oringal nes controls vs emulated controls.

they jsut respond so much better on the orignal hardware
(IE playing tetris at high levels)

@ Scar: It's the same with all emulators. Keyboards weren't meant to be used this way, with many videogames you need to press more than one button at once but a keyboard won't allow you to do that.

I love the different GameBoy versions. It's small and my fingers don't hurt even after 8 straight hours of playing. I don't like console controllers much... I have small hands so I have a hard time switching from button to button... and that is why I have an emulator. Tee-hee.

That's kind of strange kyubichan, I mean the best emulators are the ones for the consoles uptill the SNES generation, and it wasn't till the generation after that till the huge controllers started showing up.

But enough talk of emulators, they suck.

But speaking of controllers... what is the BEST controller from all of the consoles released so far? Definately not the Xbox360 controller... I've already played it, and it's just the same as the last Xbox controller... (much like the system itself lol)... it's the SNES controller! And not cause I'm a Nintendo fan, it's the fact that it's the basics. D-Pad, 4 face buttons 2 shoulder buttons. Clear and simple controls.

When the N-Rev is released, it will be the best controller.

For consoles already released, I'd have to say the original sega genesis controller, I liked it's simplicity. Though I do like the smaller version of the original xbox controller a lot too.

I loved the N64 controller... I mean at the time when I was playing GoldenEye and Perfect Dark and any other FPS game ont he N64, I always used the control scheme where you used the C-Buttons to move and the Analog stick to look... it was soooo good, best console FPS control scheme to date.

What I hate is the Xbox controller's FPS scheme, especially Halo's.

What i'm waiting for it so see how kickass the Revmote will be for FPS games

Yeah, I did really like the N-64 contoller as well. It was great for a lot of games.

I liked the Dreamcast! It was sweet all around, even though it went under...

I still have mine in the basement right now. I should go play it sometime.

Like I said, my hands hurt when I use console controllers (even the Playstation's), thus emulators work for me. To each his/her own, I guess. On a side note, I finished Majora's Mask on my PC and using only regular Link for the final battle, the keyboard's controls worked fine for me.

Wait, so you didn't buy these just because you didn't like the controllers? I don't know what the videogame console availability is in the Philippines but either way the use of emulators is... bad. Of course seeing as the NES, SNES, N64 generation have long passed It's not that big a deal since you can't get those games anymore... until the Revolution is released Then you'll have no excuse *points* lol

On your thread about Nintendo Wii, I did post something about the (un)availability of consoles here in the Philippines. I have emulators for the N64 (because I love Zelda, but I can't find original Zelda games here, so what's the point of having an N64 if I can't get the game I wanted?), and for GBA's Final fantasy 1 (same reason, no original games here)*. The Playstation and its games were easily accesible though, and I could buy one back then, but I my cousin bought one before I did and I tried it out. My hands were sweaty after 30 mins of gaming, and my thumb was sore. I tried to get the hang of it, but I just did not see myself playing it as much as I play my GameBoy. So, instead of blowing my allowance on something that I can't enjoy as much, I invested on GameBoy games instead. When the PS2 was released, and my boyfriend got one, I tried playing that but the same thing occured, awfully sweaty palms and sore thumbs, which are deathly annoying when you're playing VF4.

I'm just stating my preferrence of emulated controls over console controllers that I've handled so far. It is a form of piracy, and I do not recommend it. But then again, in my case, 80% of videogames available are pirated and have a big chance of getting corrupted. So, instead of buying a console whose controllers slip from my hand, and games that are either overpriced or fake, I stick to my more stable PC and reliable keyboard. I am sorry, Nintendo. I love Zelda so much that I have resulted to a minor form of piracy. Har, matey!

*It's so horrible, because even malls sell fake games. I go to Manila to look for original games, but it's just so darn hard to find them. And when I do, they're usually x3 the real price.

Yeah I'm aware of that kind of thing which is why I'm glad the GameCube was designed well enough to deter people from pirating the games, which in the end saved Nintendo a lot of money... which brings me to the next thing I love about a console... LOL the GameCube's lack of piracy. Nintendo so knew what they were doing when they made that console. It may not have worked for them on a third party level but it was successful in protecting Nintendo's own interests. Smart move.

When the 'next gen' consoles came out, (forgive me for sounding like a preschooler) I SOOOO WANTED A GAMECUBE! T_T I found one at a big mall in Manila, but alas! There were no games for it!!!!!!!!!!!!! It sounds pathetic, but true. They put a GC on display, yet had no games for it. My world almost shattered to pieces. Now, I will go to my room and chant a spell or something, maybe pray until "Wii" day. I hope God sends an angel (or an ancestor) to the Nintendo bosses and implore them to ship units of Wii to our little third world country. "Oh, and God, don't forget the games."
