This is going to get pretty interesting.
That rumor about Sonic in the next Smash Bros game is about to get bigger

Personally, I think it'd take an act of god to get Sonic on the next Smash Bros. As much as we all would love Team Sonic to be there, Super Smash Bros is very restrictive about who appears on it.

I know, but still the rumor keeps coming back again and again.

It's not a rumour, it's just peoples hopes.

Yeah, I doubt they would put Sonic in SSB, we're lucky they're even deciding to put the Sega games on the rev
Well when Sega first went developer only, all of their Sonic games were exclusive to GameCube. Of coutrse just like everything else, Sega decided to let Sony and Microsoft finally have Sonic even though it never sold at least half as well as it did on the GCN lol
As for the virtual console additions, I hope that Nintendo gets Neo Geo into the mix too, that'd be the icing on the cake for the virtual console. And let's not forget the potential for ORIGINAL games to be released through the virtual console download service.

UPDATE
