I have a bit of one myself, I love authentic Japanese foods, I can cook them as well. I love sushi and sashimi. Pocky is ok, I like the almond quite a bit. Also I have an addiction to their incense lol, I buy the brand Shoyeido and it is just divine stuff.
So what stuff aside from anime and manga do you love from Japan? Don't be shy now, it is ok for guys to have plushies too!

it shines.

The architecture mostly. I work in construction, so buildings fascinate me, and all the stuff they've got over there, and all their proposals make me drool.
Though, until they actually build one, nothing tops the Burj Dubai for me.

Anime is probably the biggest part of my fascination with Japan, but of course there are other things I like about it...
for instance, I like alot of Japanese music, but I guess this one is closely tied with watching anime. If you're exposed to something enough, you'll grow to like it and if you like it enough, you'll seek out more.
Also, I love Japanese cars... particularly Nissan's and especially older ones. The S30 Fairlady Z, KPGC10 Skyline and 510 Bluebird are some of my favorite cars ever made. Right now, I drive a 1993 Sentra SE-R, It's nothing special, but it's a car that I've pieced together myself and fits my understated style pretty well (plus, it gets great gas mileage!) I also hope to one day own an R32 Skyline GT-R, but with import restrictions, I'll have to wait until at least 2014 to be able to do that. (Plenty of time to save at least. Haha!)
I don't eat much Japanese food, but I've been known to enjoy Yellowtail sushi whenever possible. I'm not a fan of most seafood... so Japanese food isn't usually my first choice.
Also, no sense leaving this one out... Japanese women! So cute.
I do have quite a bit of interest in Japan and Japanese culture because it's so different from what I'm used to... but I can't say I'm obsessed... there are certain people who seem to think the Japanese are the superior race or something and that kind of thinking scares me so I don't let myself get anywhere near that level.

It took me awhile to eat raw fish from Japanese food lol, I actually don't like eating sashimi that much after tasting it at a Japanese restaurant but I do like eating raw salmon and smoked salmon put in the sushi.
I've never ever been to Japan but I've seen some videos on their public transport system there and it kinda scares me, particularly the train in the big cities where you see people being shoved in like a cattle herd. God knows the public transport system in Melbourne is getting really bad and I fear it could end up being like the trains in Japan but other than that I'm quite interested in Japanese culture.
Most of those interest stemmed from studying Japanese for 6 years throughout high school and watching anime. I really would like to pick up Japanese again so I can enhance my speaking of the language, reading hiragana and katakana I'm already good at and I can read some kanji while writing Japanese I'm okay as well. It ain't easy though for those who wish to pick up Japanese just from watching anime as most of what you hear in it are quite different from how Japanese people speak in real life.
I don't know why people like the food so much. Everytime I go to out to eat, someone always suggest Japanese food. And, we usually do eat Japanese food, even though the restaurant is most likely run by Chinese people. Don;t get me wrong, love the food, but I don't think its really that fantastic that we hace to eat it that much.
Yes, Darky, the Japanese railway system is pretty crowded. I remember when I went there I had the experience of being in that rugby-like scramble with the officer guy a little too intimately close.
For myself, I really like the Japanese style gardens. One of my friends has a garden like that at her place. The house is bleak, but the garden is absolutely beautiful.

I don't know how you can even breathe with that many people packed in. It'd be absolutely horrible if the train broke down and you were stuck there for hours in the squashed pack.
I don't like fish or seafood very much so i think i wouldn't like sushi or sashimi XD
I remember when I was on the Japanese train system... oh wait, I was never there, that was Melbourne.
On some lines... it IS as bad as Japan. There are literally trains in Melbourne where you cannot get in because it's that packed full, and if you're already in a train and pull up to a station, be prepared to be full body crushed... x.x

heh, we don't even HAVE train systems here in California in most places.

pocky......mmmm pocky, the food, the language, music, just about everything really, ive always wanted to go to japan, but ill probably never get there in my lifetime >_>
The Melbourne railway system is only that packed when its the peak hours. I remember it was so packed once that some guy was actually leaning on my back, so that he could fully open his Mx. And then he started rubbing his back against mine. I'll tell you, it was horrifying. Nothing like that happened in Japan. It was just "mind your own business". I didn't even see anyone get groped.
If you try to grope a girl in Australia she'll turn around and ram her fist into your face.
XD lol.
Plus, my train experiences have been more crowded than yours apparently.

I've never seen anyone get punched for groping a girl on the train. But, I did see some guy punch another guy for just looking at his girlfriend. Of course, that guy was drunk.
That's cause you don't know the girls I know XD

LOL, I had a girl grabbing hold of my shoulders once for balance since the train was running so fast with its turns that it nearly threw everyone standing onto the floor. It was also a packed train when this happened but I wouldn't say it was as crowded to the point where people got squashed.
Being crushed in a train isn't an experience I'd like to repeat x.x to top it off, I hate situations like that... I'm not claustrophobic, I just don't like places with lots of people in such a small space...

I have a 4 hour+ train journey to take on the 15th \0/ XD

I like anime and manga, I've tried Pocky and it's alright not bad at all and pretty healthy for a snack. I like their culture, silks, kimonos and of course real swords. Most ppl have never seen the real thing, I bought one for 3k and this thing is beautiful and its like a 2ft razor blade lol. But really though, the structure of the steel is unlike anything I have ever seen in my life crystalline with blue hues and a grain that is totally unique.
Oh an I second the notion on the women of Japan, some of the loveliest creatures I've seen.
Chimasterwang Wrote:Maybe Phoenix means he hates weeaboos Yeah, weeaboos/otakus they're all the same to me. :P

im trying to learn japanese too......
