I figure that it's best if I keep all my art updates in one thread, so here's a thread for that purpose. I'll try to link up pics that people on this forum may find interesting.
To start, I finished up one pic (other than gifts) for Christmas, owing to an increased practice schedule and a really busy time period.
It stars Excellen Browning and Leona Garstein from the Super Robot Wars game series (and the Divine Wars anime). I'm currently playing through OG 2, and they are my top two female aces. In fact, when Elza... er, Ratsel isn't around, they are my top two aces, period. Happiness is casting focus and having two unhittable mecha dealing destruction.

I'll be travelling over the holidays, but I'll try to check in from time to time on the forum. I probably won't be able to get anything done and uploaded while away.

Still remember Christmas Nene and her remote controlled boomer. One of my favorite pics that I still have.

I think I remember a lot of your old work.
Have to say thats some damn nice work.

That's a fine work you have there. Im impressed. That's a nice way to celebrate Christmas.
27 December 2007, 1:40 PM
Thanks, all, I'm glad that you liked the pic, and I really appreciate your kind words. That Nene picture was one of my lucky ones- one that went right, and stayed right. I want to do that more often.
As I'm travelling, I can't upload or do any art finishing work at the moment, so I'm working on page layouts for a multi-page practice comic. It's not always fun work, but it's necessary, and I think that it has and is helping me learn and grow as an artist.

Holly cow, I think some of your stuff on 4chan's /m/ board.
Now I know where it comes from!

Hi Geass,
I hope it wasn't my crappy work. Was it my Zaku comic?

It was the Excellen and Leona one during the few days we where not crying over Burnie and his gift of burgers.
Your Zaku Comment got an "Aaaaaaw!" from A.r. as well as some similar feelings from anonymous
And I think the Wrong Amuro one as well.
Most of the things I have seen are on /m/ I hardly visit /a/ anymore.
When will you take commissions again?
31 December 2007, 5:33 PM
Ah, that's not too bad then.
As for commissions, I never took them- are you thinking of another artist? I have trouble guaranteeing finish times, and I'm not sure I'd be good with the pay and correction process.

Thats ok
I've actually had one guy take a whole year. But he still got it done. Thats after I commissioned him and nearly forgot. Both of us.
Hmm, how about some quick art:
It's getting close to bedtime, and Sherri wants to be snuggly warm, hence the pajamas she's chosen.
Sherri's an older character design of mine, one that I had forgotten for a while, and I decided to use her design in my latest practice piece. I liked the practice piece enough to finish it up and upload it.
I know that her form is somewhat exaggerated, but I did that deliberately to help myself practice and clean up my proportion work.

Matou Sakura joins The Darkness...
...because she believes in a thing called loooooooove.
http://wbd.deviantart.com/art/Sakura-Joi...s-74487382
If you are wondering, this is Matou Sakura from Fate/Stay Night. The joke, if it makes no sense, goes like this: Sakura in the series almost gets taken over by darkness and evil, or you could say, joins the darkness.
The Darkness is the name of a rock band who haven't released much lately, but were well known for the song "I believe in a thing called love".
So, there's the joke- Sakura joins The Darkness, not the darkness. Lame, but that's life. I wanted to draw it, so here it is.
Sakura, proportion-wise is looking more like Rider in this one, so we'll say it's from five or six years after the events in Fate/Stay Night.
The costume is based on a real costume that I saw at least one member of The Darkness wear, modified to cover up her chest somewhat.
LOL, Sakura looks like a hippie in that costume but there's no denying she's a bad ass bitch in Fate/Stay Night (especially how she popped a cap in Shinji's ass in the game).
I have a request though, can you draw either Saber or Shirou in a bear costume similar to the one that Saber ripped the head off in the anime?
Thanks, I'm glad you liked the pic! I think that a glam-rock outfit suits her in a strange way.
As for requests, I'm afraid I probably won't be able to get to that one. I've been really busy lately, and haven't been able to get nearly as much art done as I need to- and I really need to focus on getting my comic layout and model sheets done. Sorry about that.
So, I'm searching around DeviantArt, and I notice a distinct lack of Ibis Douglas artwork on here. Deciding that this must be swiftly rectified, I drew up this picture of Ibis at the beach. It's okay to cast Focus if you'd like, but play nice, or she may cast Alert, then Strike, then Valor.
http://wbd.deviantart.com/art/Ibis-Dougl...h-74911749
It's a fairly quick little pic- a "quick win" as I like to call them. A quick win is a picture drawn quickly and finished quickly or a model built and finished quickly, to help me get past some harder parts on a longer build or drawing (or in this case, the long and hard to display comic layout work that I've been doing. It'll be a full comic soon enough, but it's hard to keep slogging away at something that will be unseen for so long).
Ibis Douglas is from the Super Robot Wars series, and is one of the Banpresto original characters in said series. If you've been poking around my gallery, you'll have seen my picture of Excellen and Leona from the same series.
If I have time, I need to draw Kusuha and Rio.
Here's Taki, a competitor in the hot unmade and probably never will "Soul Calibur Extreme Pillow Fighting" having some fun with a pillow battle.
Probably not safe for work:
http://wbd.deviantart.com/art/SC-Pillow-...i-75434833
The basic idea is this- DOA Extreme Beach Volleyball was big and all, right? Well, what if the Soul Calibur series had a spin off of a similar type? Soul Calibur has weapons, so why not pillow fighting? The various characters could pick the sorts of pillows that they liked best for their pillow fighting purposes.
I held a poll to see which girl I should draw, and it went to a run-off between Taki and Ivy. Taki won, so here she is.
Of the Soul Calibur characters, Cassandra, Taki, Xianghua and Sophitia are my favorites, so if I draw more, it'll probably be Cassandra next, then either Xianghua or Sophitia.
Nice image although I have to admit seeing Taki without her mask on seems kinda weird. The idea of a pillow fighting game would seem very likely had Soul Calibur been made by Tecmo XD. I can already imagine a multi-player option which would be a riot!
Me and my friend played a little bit of DOA beach volleyball at Manifest last year and it was funny as hell working out what buttons do which lol. I'll put in a vote for Xianghua if you decide to draw another girl as I liked her the most out of all the girls in Soul Calibur (or Soul Blade-I've only played the PS one game but seen many people play Soul Calibur).
Thanks... I'm more familiar with Taki from SC 1 and 2, where she tended not to wear the mask.
It may be a while before I can draw another in the series- I have to get the model sheets done for my practice comic, and I've got another pic in the works... BGC related.
I might still have Soul Blade for PS1 XD
"Transcending history and the world, a tale of soul and swords eternally
retold." XD
This is where I say something witty and memorable, but I can't think of anything at the moment. Look! It's Gurren Lagann crossed over with Bubblegum Crisis- I think that would be the "Bubblegum Crisis Brigade" or something like that. I modified the hardsuit design to suit the concept, as you can see.
http://wbd.deviantart.com/art/Bubblegum-...e-75698371
The red hair was what decided her costume for me- though I skipped the scarf in this scene. I used my copy of the first volume of the Gurren Lagann manga to help with the concept and Yoko's costume.
That's so wrong.
You've read it! You can't unread it!
I'm just glad that this time I thought up a cross-over that would be recognizable by someone other than me.
Hey, look, I'm not-quite famous. One of my pics got linked to by GamesRadar for a fanart feature:
http://www.gamesradar.com/f/sexiest-game...765044/p-7
You'll want to check around the other linked pics- I think they're very good, and in many ways better than my work. It's a good reminder that practice and effort pay off, and more practice and effort will always help.

Thanks for the kind words, both of you! I'm glad that it was a relatively minor notice- that helps me to keep things in perspective.
Next up, I'll see if I can get some Valentine's Day pics wrapped up in time for the day itself.
13 February 2008, 2:25 PM
And for 2008...
This is my Valentine's art submission, starring Leona Garstein and Tasuku Shinguji from the Super Robot Wars series of games and animated series.
http://wbd.deviantart.com/art/Leona-and-...e-77242005
The best jokes need no explanation, but this isn't one of the best jokes. I will caveat that and say that in some cases, even good jokes need explanation if you are unfamiliar with the cultural background that they come from.
In this case, the background knowledge you need comes from playing Super Robot Taisen Original Generations 1 and 2. I'll explain it for everyone else:
Okay, so you've got a game, and in the game Tasuku and Leona are slowly becoming a couple. Tasuku is a goofy sort of character and likes jokes and whatnot, Leona is far more straightlaced.
Leona has a cousin named Elzam, and for a portion of the game he wore a disguise that really wasn't all that disguising, and called himself "Ratsel Feinschmecker", which translates as "The Mystery Gourmet". This was an appropriate name, as Elzam is a very good cook. The disguise he wore is the same costume as Leona is currently wearing. Everyone played along with it, I guess to not make Elzam feel dumb for picking such a cheesy and obvious costume.
Leona, on the other hand, is not a good cook. The only food she can make well is porridge.
So, let's put it all together- Leona is wearing the "Mystery Porridgemaker" "Disguise" and roleplaying with Tasuku, who being a goofy sort is happy to go along.
The line Leona uses is one of her battle cries, if you are wondering, and it's what inspired this pic in the first place.
I expect that Leona will never live it down if Katina catches them doing this, however.
17 February 2008, 4:54 PM
After the valentine's day joke/pic that I drew earlier that made sense to a whole three people, I figured I should make something at least a bit more comprehensible.
So, here's a pretty un-inspired and late Valentine's Day picture, starring Shayla-Shayla, the Fire Priestess of El-Hazard. It did help me to practice, so that's a plus.

Nice artwork, i also saw you made some flash XD
Lol at this one XD

Yeah, I basically cut and paste my replies from my own forum, but I'm not exactly full up with free time here, and most of that is filled with getting art done. I'll try to reply to some of the other posts, but it will be a slow affair- I'm on dialup and things don't move all that quickly.
Thanks for the kind words, and I'm glad that you liked the flash games. I hope to get more done when I can, but they're all mostly practice.

@Wbd: Rule 34 please XP

Awh XD
Ok maybe i mean Rule 35 on the characters in the Photo of Friends picture please XP
23 February 2008, 12:43 AM
You mean "the exception to rule 34 is the citation of rule 34"? Or the actual rule 35 that's also known as rule 34-1? XP
Just because it's in the thesaurus doesn't mean it's a good idea.
And why isn't 'dethesaurisation' in the dictionary?

Blue Confusion Wrote:You mean "the exception to rule 34 is the citation of rule 34"? Or the actual rule 35 that's also known as rule 34-1? XP Yeah, they made that part needlessly complicated didn't they. Some people just call rule 34-1, rule 35 cause it's easier.

So, it's not summer yet where I am, heck, it's not even spring. Well, somewhere it's nice and the weather's nice and people can go and enjoy themselves in swimsuits near the beach.
So, here's Mindy Adele Taylor (my original character) in a bikini by the beach. This has been a sorta rotten week for me, so this picture makes me feel better. It's pretty simple, but I'm okay with it. Special thanks to the Mikuru action figure I picked up cheap to help me get the pose right.
http://wbd.deviantart.com/art/Mindy-at-t...n-78621882
Here's Kusuha Mizuha, from Super Robot Wars, at the beach. It is not beachside weather where I am, but somewhere it is. When I'm feeling blah I like to draw pics like this to feel better. Shallow it is, but hey, everyone needs to be shallow from time to time.
I've done a lot of work practicing and trying to get all sorts of elements in- like, gotta practice my hands and feet and whatnot. Well, I've been carrying that through to my finished pieces- trying to get all the elements in, trying to practice different parts and more.
That's led to what I think are some sorta boring compositions. So, to challenge this I tried a different angle for a different look- composition is important, too. I think this scene might be a bit racier than I had intended, and while Kusuha is curvy, she might be a bit too much in this scene. Eh, whatever. After doing all that work, I don't feel like hiding it for now. I can always replace it later.
http://wbd.deviantart.com/art/Kusuha-Miz...e-79144026
Maybe her legs are a bit too big? XP
Nice anyway =P Wheres that rule 34? XP
