Australian satirical comedy. There's so much to say about these guys so I'll let a wiki article do it for me XD But one thing's for sure... you guys MUST watch.

All of the episodes are listed in the page I linked you to. I've started you from the last page because the videos are listed in backwards order. Start from the last video and work your way forward. There are quite a few Australian in-jokes, but there's a lot of universal humour too which I'm sure ya'll will appreciate. And yes, the things they do are real XD Watch the first (I mean last video on the list) at least to get an idea of what it's like. The first bits in the vid aren't all that great, but when it gets up to the Surprise Spruiker, THEN things get cooking and you'll see what they're all about XD

Comparing the Ocean group dub with the FUNimation dub of Dragonball Z

This is amazing. Leon and I suddenly sparked upon this awhile ago when he complained about the DVD version of Dragonball Z being different to the TV broadcast version.

I'll explain for those who don't actually know. Dragonball Z actually started out being dubbed by Ocean group, who are a Canadian company and uses mostly Canadian VAs. About halfway through the Freiza saga, I think... or maybe at the start of the Trunks saga, there was a switch over to FUNimation who started dubbing their own version of DBZ. Now at this point I thought that Ocean had stopped producing their version, but apparantly not. Apparantly folks in the UK and I think Canada as well got the Ocean group dubs of DBZ, while The US and Australia got the FUNimation dub instead.

So here's a comparison between them, they're marked clearly so you know which is which... and I have to say, no offense to Leon, but the Ocean group dub sounds like Chim and I did the voices for them. It's that terrible.

After seeing the comparison i think the Funi dub is better maybe although back when i saw DBZ it was the Ocean dub =P XD

I actually remember watching the original ocean dub and wondering why the voices changed a quarter of the way through its first season on the US cartoon network. I don't remember the ocean dub being quite that bad though (bald guy is okay though, he makes me want to pet kitties)...

You're right, when you watch the Ocean group version episodes back then for the beginning episodes of DBZ, it doesn't seem bad at all... which is why it surprised me at how different the quality between the FUNi and Ocean dubs is in that video. It's pretty obvious that FUNimation had put a lot more effort into their version. I also cringe when I hear the Ocean version of Cell, the voice doesn't fit, it sounds like a voice that should be used for a character who is smaller, as in less built. It also lacks the arrogance and general megalomaniacness that the FUNi cell has... and let's not get me started on Goku... the Ocean version was painful to hear x.x
