I was wondering if anyone here has ever checked out the movie Streets of Fire? It's a movie made in 1984 by Walter Hill, the same guy who directed both The Warriors and 48 Hours. In my own opinion a great little movie in that whole cheesy 80s vein (like Big Trouble In Little China). Interestingly enough, the opening scene of the first Bubblegum Crisis OVA is pretty much an homage/riff of both the "Eyes on the City" opening of Blade Runner, segued into "Kon'ya Wa Hurricane". I nearly shot cola out of my nose when I saw that Priss's costume is pretty much exactly what Diane Lane was wearing as Ellen Aim in the opening scene. As well, the song "VICTORY", I believe from the 3rd OVA, is a knock-off of Streets of Fire's opening track "Nowhere Fast". I'm told there are more homage songs but I haven't looked any further in.
Good movie though, also served as inspiration for the video game Final Fight.
