Got invited by a friend for a barbecue to celebrate Christmas but I ended up not going cos I was too damn tired from working over the past few days, had a barbecue sort of dinner with my family instead lol.

I want to ask a question to all the U.S. forum members though. Are the so called "Black Friday" a common occurrence over there? It's those super sales big department stores usually have after thanksgiving and leading up to Christmas where crazy shoppers camp outside and end up fighting over items XD. Here's two clips I searched up on youtube and they're damn hilarious.

yeah it happens. i work at walmart, people go crazy over a regular priced item just cause it's in the clearance section. some deals are too good to pass up. we had this one guy in our store this past spring, his cast broke and was bleeding all down the aisle, quarts of blood....and he did not want to be taken to the hospital!!! the deals must be that good!! (or he was an illegal alien)

Black Friday is a ritual of blood, guts and good old fashioned American GREED at work! And yes, I've gone out for it for the last few years. Fun stuff indeed. Never seen anyone trampled before but I can see where it could happen. People standing outside of the stores for HOURS in the middle of the night in temps usually well below freezing. Some people are just desperate to get in someplace warm when they can... and the deals are just extra at that point XP.

Down here in Australia we have the Boxing Day sales where it's similar to Black Friday, only that people aren't as vicious to the point where they push people over at the entrance or have a brawl over items. Besides, the sales last for up to 3 weeks XD.
