Here in the US, a 'network' called Adult Swim (part of Turner Broadcasting) regularly shows anime and other adult cartoons. Well, one of their other toons (Aqua Teen Hunger Force) has a movie coming out soon and apparently the guys at 'AS' decided to do some creative advertising.
This is the result.
You just can't make stuff up like this.

I might have seen it once or twice, but I haven't been a fan of live action "anime" action since '75.

I watch that show in Adult Swim at times in Cartoon Network... And I tell you, It's pretty disturbing stuff... Anyway, I have no idea how a bunch of flashy signs can cause such chaos...

Saw it on Fox news and was like "Oh god (Groan) There goes a great show off the air because a bunch of asshats had to use 1 of the Moonies (not moony) as a mascot. Then to find out that it was an intentional ad campain.... its like That clip off of Robot Chicken when ted turner piante dhimself up like captain planet. "Truly a Stupid moment in Animation history on both cases.
yeah, I heard about this too, and I mean it's great and all that we've got guys investigating stuff like this, but I think they're seriously putting too much effort into it....And the news is playing it up way too much. Didn't timmy fall down a well again? can't we hear news about that?

Actually back then the US was about 5 - 10 years behind Japan. It probably wouldn't have aired until 77 or 78, and by that time I was onto Yamato and Gatachaman.
And about this scare, I have to wonder what the staff at AS will do with this info. Typically they would play it up, but with a possible lawsuit hanging over TBS, I have to think they will back off.
