A lot of you have known about this for quite some time, but for those who don't, I'm heading off on a trip to the far away land of Hyrule. I'll be gone for quite some time, but I won't be completely out of reach. I'll be sending letters back to this place on a regular basis through the Hylian Postal Service. Hopefully these letters will get to you all on a regular basis, but since this is a traditional postal service and it is a long way from Hyrule... there may be delays.
I'm heading off to a farewell party tonight where I leave for Hyrule... well not exactly. I'll be starting my journey in Ordon Province which is near Hyrule. I'll spend a few days there as well as exploring around Faron Province before heading into Hyrule and starting my adventure.

Nah, we just have to wait til he respawns...
the only difference is that he would only to have lost a heart in the process... he fell down a hole! :P
So, I finally have my Wii and damn is it great! I love how even though I've seen tonnes of pictures and vidoes on the net of people handling the console, Wiimote an Nunchaku... even after all of that, it still shocks you as to how SMALL everything is. It's great!
I went to a launch party at an EB Games, and for me personally, it was also a goodbye party since it'd be the last time I go to that EB Games store... well for a long time at least. It's the store where I used to hang out every chance I got and became friends with the staff... but I've moved on since then and it was sad to see me leaving after all those years.
I finally got home and unpacked everything... you know what? I LOVE the packaging, it's so easy to get everything out and ready to go, the tray system works so damn well.
I got it set up, set all of the settings, connected it to the net, updated the firmware, looked around the channels and messageboards, created a Mii... and played a little under half n hour of Twilight Princess...

First Day in Ordon Village
The trip took quite awhile, but I'm finally here...
(From the very first moment I turned inserted the Twilight Princess disc into the Wii, I was shaking, I was THAT excited. The disc was loaded, I entered the disc channel and started the game... I've seen the opening sequence before on the net, but watching it on a widescreen TV for the first time just blows you away. It may not be High Definition graphics, but the game is damn beautiful. I choked back tears and after watching the titles screen and trailer, I press St... A + B and entered the menu where I started my adventure. Link, check! Epona, check! Let's go!)
It was quite a nice day and I got to meet the villagers starting with Rusl. We started off by having a quiet chat, I was to head to Hyrule in his stead to deliver an Ordon Sword and Shield to the Hylian Royal Family as a gift. I was to leave in three days...
I like Rusl, he's seems like a nice mentor who is skilled with the sword and has a nice family. Uli, his wife who is pregnant with their second child and Colin, their first born. Uli's a nice lady, I like her, and Colin is a quiet kid who gets pushed around by the other kids in the town a little... poor kid.
Anywayz, Rusl and I were heading back home with Epona, my horse. Rusl left with Uli and Colin back to town while I went back to my house to rest a bit... or so I thought, next thing I knew I was being called out to help herd some goats! XD So I went back out but found that Epona was missing... Illia must've taken her... well off to the spring, that's the most likely place they'll be... Speaking of Illia... she's nice... (and hot, rwar) she loves Epona a lot and takes great care of that horse.
Illia had washed Epona for me, which was very nice of her, but it was time to get her all dirty again cause those goats need to be herded. I got onto Epona and rode my way into town. I made sure to talk to everyone in town, it's important to get to know these people, they've been so nice for allowing me so much rreedom in their town...
After talking to the folks around Ordon Village, I headed straight for the Goat Farm... it didn't take long to get the goats herded before nightfall... and after a nice hard days work it's time to go to sleep. As I write this, it's morning on the second day and... eh, wait a sec. A few kids are outside of my house and want me to come out and play or something.
(I've actually gotten a lot further than what I've written down so far, but I'll tell you all about the second and third day in the next letter, as well as my control/gamplay impressions and more)
So with that, I'll end this letter.

Second Day in Ordon Village
I'm free today, don't have to go and help out at the ranch, I can just go around the village, have fun and talk to the locals and play with the kids... speaking of which, there is a group of them outside my house who are really excited about a Slingshot being sold at the local store, of course, the poor bastards can't afford to buy it since they're only kids XD So I go to the store to see what they're raving on about... turns out the lady in the store is depressed that her cat has run away and won't serve me... jeez, lousy customer service there lady! And so begins a short but very nice collection quest!
So this is how it goes...
I used the Hawk whistle to call a Hawk and got it to snatch the cradle from the Monkey. I gave the cradle back to Uli who had lost it and in turn she gave me a fishing pole that Colin made for me. I used the fishing pole to catch a couple of fish. The cat snatched up a fish and went back home to the store lady, I went to the store lady and bought myself the Slingshot... XD
It was quite fun, but other stuff happened along the way too, like teasing cucco's and oh oh oh, a goat got loose and I got to stop it! It comes charging towards you and you get to stop it, I grabbed onto its horns and literally tossed it onto its side XD It was so cool! The poor thing got up, shook its head and with a sad face walked back up to the Ranch. I felt so sorry for it I went up and patted it just to show there were no hard feelings XD
So anyway, I went back to my house to find that Rusl had delivered something to me... it was a woodern sword! Sweet I head back outside and the kids are all excited about me buying the slingshot and want me to show off my skills with it and the sword... and of course, I blow em away with my skill
(Even with the new setup, Wiimote + Nunchaku, it still feels like a traditional 3D Zelda control scheme, but more refined. There is no free camera control, but you don't need it at all! The Z-lock on centering is all that's really required and even then it's not needed as much as I thought it would be. The camera is vey intelligent which is not surprising at all of course. Aiming with the Wiimote for the slingshot is so damn easy, I'm also sitting in a PERFECT position from the TV/sensorbar so that eventhing feels fluid and natural... plus I've never felt so comfortable with a game controller in my entire life. It's so great that my hands are finally unbinded with these two separate controls.
So yes, as I was saying, aiming with the slingshot rocks, it's extremely accurate and right off the bat I was scoring direct hits. The sword mechanics are great too, swinging the wiimote in small motions is very satisfying, I love it )
After I showed off my skills to the kids, they started talking about the monkeys that have been causing trouble in the village and as we were talking, Talo and Malo spotted one and all of the kids went running after it. Ugh... so of course I had to follow to get them back before they got into trouble.
It didn't take long to catch up to two of the kids, but Talo was still missing... and he had gone into Faron Forest! So, in I went, and guh! Moblins! I fought quite a few of them, as well as Boku Baba's and Keese. My swordsmanship was in top form so it was pretty easy to take them all out, even in large groups.
(The spin attack comes in handy when there are 3 or 4 enemies trying to attack you, and swinging the Wiimote is so damn fun against these guys)
So anywayz, I got a lantern from this guy camping in the forest, just outside of the gate that leads to Hyrule Field and after awhile I finally found Talo. He was inside of a cage, trapped with the monkey! I fought off the Moblins and freed Talo and the monkey and went home...
When we got back, Rusl came to talk to me, Colin had told him about what had happened and he had come to help.... but he was too late, it was all already taken care of
If anyone has any questions about anything to do with TP, just ask and I'll answer them.
Well, it's the night of the second day as I write this so I'm off to bed, ready for the third and final day I'll be spending in Ordon Village.
